We are welcoming applications for our 2024 Board of Director elections that will take place at our AGM on October 23, 2024. If you are passionate about trails in Chilliwack and are looking for a way to make a difference in the community, then we want to hear from you!

The Chilliwack Park Society (CPS) Board of Directors (BOD) consists of eleven (11) volunteers working together to provide strategic leadership to ensure that the organization achieves the mission of the community. The BOD is elected at the AGM by CPS members.

This year all positions are open for election/re-election to allow for implementation of staggered board terms to provide a more sustainable board governance model into the future.

Five (5) of the eleven (11) positions will be set for a temporary one-year term and six (6) positions will be set for a full two-year term as follows:

  • Chair - 2-year term (must be current 2 year+ CPS director)

  • Vice Chair - 1-year term (must be current 2 year+ CPS director)

  • Treasurer - 2-year term

  • Secretary - 1-year term

  • Director - 1-year term - 3 positions open (portfolios determined at first director meeting)

  • Director - 2-year term - 2 positions open (portfolios determined at first director meeting)

Starting in 2025, all terms will be elected for a period of two (2) years.

What to expect:

  • Specific duties of directors at large are flexible and assigned at the first directors meeting. Relevant skills and interests of applicants are considered in assignments – don’t hesitate to apply!

  • Board members can expect to put in anywhere from 4 to 7 hours a month towards their respective board duties/roles throughout the year (varies by role and time of year). Regular meetings held quarterly or at the call of the Chair as necessary. Min. 50% attendance rate required.

  • All board members may participate in a variety of activities such as supporting trail building and trail days, helping out at events, leading and/or participating in committees, etc. It’s a team effort!

Chilliwack Park Society believes that our mandate to enhance the trail networks and engage the trail user community is best served by leadership from diverse backgrounds and experiences. Anyone who has a passion for the trails and wants to contribute to the governance of the Chilliwack Park Society is encouraged to run for a position on the Board. We particularly encourage Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, members of visible minority groups to run for election, as these groups continue to be under-represented on our Board.
